Mark Hicken is a Vancouver lawyer and global internet marketing consultant specializing in search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) for lawyers, attorneys and law firms. Mark provides SEO and SEM services through Canada’s leading legal marketing agency, Skunkworks Creative Group. He is also the Vice-President, Legal Services for the LawOne Lawyers Network.
Mark has a B.A. (Honours) from UBC and an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto. He was called to the bar in British Columbia in 1990. Since that time he has practiced law at some of Vancouver’s leading law firms, including Russell & DuMoulin (now Fasken Martineau), Lawson Lundell and Legacy Tax & Trust Lawyers.
Mark has always been passionately interested in technology and particularly technology as it relates to the practice of law. At the advent of the internet revolution in 1998 , Mark created technology that enabled law firms to offer services on the web and enabled Canada’s first online legal services through his company, ElectricLawyer Systems Inc. Mark gained national media attention for this breakthrough with feature articles in the National Post, Vancouver Sun and Calgary Herald. He was also featured in articles in The National and Canadian Lawyer magazines.
Since that time, Mark has also been interviewed by CBC radio, featured on various internet sites and been a guest lecturer in the Internet Marketing program at the University of British Columbia.
